About Madison County Schools

Madison County Schools is the highest scoring county school district in Mississippi, achieving an "A" rating based on the statewide accountability model. Consistently strong academic performance is a hallmark of Madison County Schools. We achieve these outstanding results by focusing on excellent classroom instruction. Our teachers are passionate about providing students with relevant and engaging lessons. The performance of our students on national exams reflects the high-quality instruction they receive. We consistently have the most STAR students (based on ACT achievement) and National Merit Scholars in the state, more than any other public, private, or parochial school or district.

With more than 13,000 students, Madison County Schools is the fifth-largest school district in the state of Mississippi. We are made up of four attendance zones boasting 23 school campuses. Across Madison County, students have opportunities to participate and excel in sports, arts, and technology. With the creation of our 1:M program, all students in grades 3-5 and in middle school have access to Mac computers in the classroom. Beginning in 8th-grade students receive computers to take home. All high school students have their own Macbooks to take home.

Students can join award-winning debate teams, enroll in culinary arts classes, and develop cutting-edge programming on the robotics team. Our sports teams are high-level competitors, often bringing home championships and inspiring a culture of school pride.

Our career academies prepare students for a future that we can only imagine, allowing students to explore broadcasting, health sciences, automotive repair, engineering, teaching, culinary arts and more. We strive to motivate students with caring and compassionate teachers who engage students in a range of subjects.

Our goal is not only to help each child reach his or her fullest potential but also for each child to excel. 

Madison County Schools educates students to prepare them for college and beyond, graduating the next generation of leaders for our Madison County community.

Enrollment for rising kindergarten students is held every year on the first Wednesday in April. For fall enrollment in grades 1-12, please wait until the second week in June to contact the school and begin the enrollment process. This timing allows grades and other important documents from the prior school year to update in the state’s database. This update must occur before enrollment for the fall school year can take place.

For students transferring to Madison County Schools during the school year, enrollment requests should be made by calling the school to which your child is transferring.

Special Affidavit Enrollment 2024-25

When a student and his parent or legal guardian live in a home not owned or leased in the parent or legal guardian’s name, a “SPECIAL AFFIDAVIT OF RESIDENCE” is required before enrollment can be completed.

The parent or legal guardian of the student and the person in whose name the home is owned or leased must meet with district personnel at our Central Office location. A checklist of the documentation required for the process can be found here. Once both parties have gathered the necessary documents, please email a copy of them to sa@madison-schools.com and wait for a response that will include your appointment time to come to our central office to sign the special affidavit paperwork.
