Due to ongoing supply chain issues, there is a nationwide shortage of food and supplies that are used for school meals programs. Elior is the food service provider for Madison County Schools and has performed well throughout the crisis by leveraging its global buying power, utilizing direct to manufacturer contracts and working with distributors to find alternate providers for food and supplies. However, schools will see periodic shortages on some food and supplies.
With almost every school district fully back in session, there is an increase demand as students take advantage of the “free meals for all” this school year through the USDA SSO waiver. Therefore, our demand for supply is increasing and try as we might, we are running into some challenges to deliver the consistent menu options your student is accustomed to. However, we are adjusting as needed and we will most certainly ensure that every student is fed. We are reaching out to you to share that we will need to ask for your flexibility and patience as we work through availability challenges that cause last minute substitutions and product shortages as these will certainly affect menu item availability from time to time. Despite challenges, we will work to ensure that every student is fed every school day.
