Welcome to Mrs. Coate's Classroom
I am happy to be a member of the AOC team. I have been teaching for 21.5 years (8 in Louisiana and 13.5 in Mississippi). I have taught all levels US History, US Government and Law-Related Education. I have also served as contributor and training facilitator for US History State Test Plans in Louisiana and Mississippi.
I currently hold a B.A in Political Science (Pre-Law) and a B.A. in Secondary Education. I also hold a Masters in Education degree in Curriculum and Testing and a Master of Arts degree in History. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in the area of High School Social Studies and serve as a mentor to those obtaining their boards in Social Studies. While in Graduate School, I completed an internship with the Louisiana State Legislature and the US Supreme Court.
I am married to my husband, Bryan for 15 years. He is a Navy Veteran and serves as a communications officer for the Crescent River Port Pilot Association. We are both originally from the New Orleans area and miss the food terribly. We have a daughter, Bryanna, who is an 8th grader at GMS and is a member of their Dance Team and Encore Theater. We have 4 amazing rescue pets: Elsa and Charlie are our rescue dogs and Cheeto and Lily are our rescue cats.
