Kate Boteler
Welcome Message
I'm so excited to have you /your child in my classroom this year. 2021-2022 is going to be such a great year to be a 7th grader at Madison Middle School! Please remember to check the Canvas under "announcements" and to sign up for Remind.
About the Teacher
My name is Kate Boteler, and this is my 13th year to be on staff at Madison Middle School. I have been teaching 7th grade Reading and Language Arts for 16 years. I was born and raised in Canton, Mississippi. I attended Canton Academy from 1st-12th grade, and after graduation, I attended The University of Mississippi where I studied English Literature. Before I began my teaching career, I attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and worked in Children's Ministry. In January of 2010, I married Brad Boteler and we live in Madison. Brad teaches U.S. History and is the Head Tennis Coach at Madison Central, so we are a family of Jags! We are members of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison. We have a mini Aussiedoodle named Scout. I am a member of the Madison County Chapter of Chi Omega Alumni. I like to READ (surprise!), decorate, and play board games with friends. I also love college football and baseball (and sports in general!)
I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2014 and completed my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Mississippi College n March of 2020. I love literature, especially children's and adolescent literature, and am so lucky to be able to teach something that I'm so passionate about personally. My goal is for every child that I teach to grow in their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, as well as in their love for reading and writing.
In addition to teaching Regular and Accelerated 7th Grade English/Language Arts, I serve on the MMS Leadership Team, and I will be coordinating the ACT Prep Program for MMS this year.
