The Challenges apply the excitement of an athletic competition to academic excellence and encourages students to apply their economics and personal finance knowledge and work in teams.

All teachers and students throughout the state are able to participate regardless of travel or budgetary constraints. There are no registration fees and no team limits so this makes a great class activity. The tests are open through March 22, 2019.

  • Mid Feb - Germantown Junction

Posted by Deborah Morali on 2/7/2019

These two files contain Information about Germantown Junction:

    schedule

    Inventory

    PA - GERMANTOWN JUNCTION INFORMATION

    Friday, February 15 – A-Day

Thursday, Feb 14 - 8B PA students will set up all the stores in the cafeteria.

    Friday, Feb 15 - A-Day

7:25 - All PA students should arrive at school and set up. Parents may want to help set up, and are welcome to stay and help, but please let the students run the stores.

7:30 Tickets – Parent volunteers will be available to help swap cash for tickets during this event. Depending on who shows up, we may need some teacher volunteers to help us.  Remind students that there are NO REFUNDS. I suggest buying $5 to start and if they want/need more, then they can always go back to our ticket moms.

***6th & 7th Courtyard Duty Teachers – please do not let these students out of the courtyards to shop. They will need to come at the scheduled time. Thanks.

    7:30 - 8:40   8th grade Courtyard, 8th grade HALLWAY/COTTAGES & GYM will shop

8:40-8:45     Break (8th graders will exit and 7th graders will enter)

8:45-9:10     7th Grade HALLWAY/COTTAGES and OFFICE and LIBRARY will shop

9:10-9:15     Break (7th graders will exit and 6th graders will enter)

    9:15-9:45    6th Grade HALLWAY/COTTAGES and BAND/CHOIR will shop

9:45-10:06    Each PA store/group will disassemble his/her store and take the GOOD cardboard boxes to the MR. POTTS.  Place the NOT-SO-GOOD boxes INSIDE the dumpsters OR take them home.

9:45 - 10:06 All PA students will cleanup:

    • 8th Grade Boys - Return tables to the appropriate locations.
    • 7th Grade Boys - Remove all trash from the cafeteria and take it to the dumpster.
    • 7th and 8th Grade Girls - Sweep and mop floors.
    • 6th Grade Girls - Take ticket boxes to Morali's room.
    • 6th Grade Boys - Take all unsold inventory to Morali's room.
    • EVERYBODY - Remove all personal items from the cafeteria.

10:07  All students will return to their 2nd  block class and resume a “normal” school day schedule. Students are responsible for making up any 1A work they missed. All 2A PA students will remain in the cafeteria with Stevenson until it is cleaned and arranged for lunch.

10:07-11:41  Parent/teacher committee will meet in Morali's classroom 807 to do all accounting, reimbursements, and prepare the deposit. Please contact Mrs. Morali to volunteer (if you have 2A planning and are willing).

Germantown Junction is just over a week away! Thank you so much for your tireless hunt for boxes. We know that wasn’t an easy task. You will be so impressed with what your students have created with them!

Next week, your students may begin bringing in their inventory. When inventory items are purchased, please save the receipts if you would like to be reimbursed. Place your receipts in an envelope with your child’s name on it and turn it in to Mrs. Morali, Mrs. Sprayberry, or Ms. Holloway with the inventory. Once Germantown Junction is completed, we will collect the ticket boxes and determine the profit for each store. We will then reimburse each student for the inventory based on the receipts that were turned in THAT DAY. Because we can not keep cash, and must make a deposit, we will only be able to make reimbursements on the day of the event. Please do not ask to be reimbursed afterwards because we will not have the funds available to do it.

Since the students are being reimbursed for inventory expenses, they need to understand that if they partake of their inventory, they will need pay tickets for it just like everyone else. Otherwise, it is dishonest.

Once the receipts are turned in, for reimbursement, the inventory becomes the property of Germantown Junction. The unpurchased inventory is NOT free to be consumed. This is a fundraiser.

Thank you so much for all your support during this project!
