    alert

    Dear Parents,

I am reaching out to you to affirm our commitment to the safety of our students, in light of the tragic school shooting in Florida last week.  All Madison County School locations are prepared with crisis plans created and maintained in consultation with local, state and federal law enforcement. We have spent time over the past week actively reviewing these plans and meeting with teachers and administrators to evaluate our current strategies and to discuss measures to address the security of our campuses and the safety of our staff and students in the future.

We believe that building relationships with our students is vital in preventing violence. A critical aspect of student safety is empowering students themselves to report any concerns or suspicions to adults knowing that they will be heard, treated confidentially, and thoroughly investigated.  In addition, we encourage parents to contact their principal or other school administrator when they see or hear potential threats.  Social media posts and other statements are taken seriously, and all students must understand that threatening language and inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated in Madison County Schools.  Please continue to partner with us by talking to your children about making good decisions daily concerning what they do and say, both in person and online.  Remind your children that MCS monitors computer site visits and key phrases that may raise concerns. Consequences for threatening posts or behavior will result in school discipline and will be referred to local law enforcement.

I also want to emphasize that your most reliable sources for accurate information concerning any situation in Madison County Schools are our district website, Facebook page, and Twitter.  You can also download our MCS App on your phone to receive important notifications.  If a situation arises that requires instant notification, we will place an “all call” to inform you of the circumstances.

Madison County Schools has been and will continue to be proactive with respect to student safety as we strive to create a secure educational environment for all.

Thank you for choosing Madison County Schools for your child’s education,

    Dr. Ronnie McGehee

    Superintendent

Mission

  • Madison Avenue Upper Elementary

    Our Vision:

We envision MAUE to be a safe environment where standards-based instruction based on formative assessments leads to growing all students.  Our students will experience real life application of basic skills and concepts by providing programs that enhance artistic, scientific, technological and character development.

    Our Mission:

MAUE has a rich tradition of outstanding student achievement by providing a sound standards-based education while promoting high moral character of all students.  We envision these qualities to continue and be further enhanced as we follow a plan that first insures a safe, orderly learning environment.  MAUE will then use diagnostic testing to assess students individually to determine strengths and weaknesses.  Our course of instruction will be developed to meet each student's needs.  Students will be provided opportunities to explore and actively engage in the learning process to enhance artistic, scientific, and technological growth as well as social and character development.  MAUE will provide opportunities for partnership with parents and the community to prepare students to be productive, responsible and life-long learners.
