The band staff discussed moving Tuesday afternoon rehearsals to 6:00 to 8:00 pm for a number of reasons.

The following are reasons including but not limited to:

-Lessons- many of our students are having trouble finding a time to take lessons without adding another day to their after school hours.  This will allow them time to do that. This is a GREAT problem to have.  We are all for as many students as possible taking private lessons.  However, we now have so many students taking privately that if we had private lessons going on during the normal 3:45 to 6:00 rehearsal we would literally have about 1/4 of the band present for rehearsal- which of course would not be time-effcient for those other students attending rehearsal.
-Front ensemble to the drill hill- it is very tough on the equipment (and more importantly, the students) to get the front ensemble to the drill hill on Tuesdays since we do not have access to the stadium on Tuesday afternoons from 3:45 to 6:00.  Starting rehearsal at 6:00 would keep us from having to move the front ensemble equipment to the hill and, instead move it to the stadium- which is much easier and more practical than moving it to the drill hill.
- Other after school activities.  Many of our other students are involved in other after school activities.  Starting at 6:00 will allow some of our students who participate in other after school activities to do so while not missing rehearsal for band and getting behind.
Again, the band staff and I made this decision with the students' best interest in mind.  So, for the foreseeable future, we will rehearse on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
We recommend that students go home after school and do homework/study before coming back to the band hall since there will be lessons going on and we will need as much space as possible to facilitate those lessons.

However, if there are transportation issues, students are (as always) more than welcome to stay in the band hall and do homework/study until rehearsal begins at 6:00.
There will always be band directors present between the after school hours and 6:00pm for supervision purposes.
We will begin this new schedule THIS week.
Thank you for your attention to this change in the rehearsal schedule!

Symphonic Band-
REHEARSALS THIS WEEK!

 Monday-3:45 to 5:00pm.
We will continue our Monday after school rehearsals to prepare for our Chicago performance.
Please be prepared.  We will be working on music that was distributed to you after audition results were announced.

For those students who are still waiting on new instruments (contra bass clarinet, contra alto clarinet, etc..), please be patient, we are currently working on obtaining those instruments for you.  You are certainly welcome to come watch at rehearsal, but will not be required to be there until your instrument has arrived.
Thank you.
