Welcome to the Mannsdale Media Center's webpage!  The Mannsdale library currently hosts approximately 14,000 books, DVDs, audiotapes and more.  Our library system is monitored using an automated search system with a catalog feature to search for needed materials.  The Mannsdale card catalog and circulation system is automated through Follett Destiny software.  State-of-the-art search stations for student use are distributed throughout the library for research and internet usage. There are 7 search stations dedicated to student and staff use in our media center.  Our mission is to promote an interest in reading of all kinds and to provide a climate supporting research and literary appreciation.  We recently added an Apple TV, Ipads and Kindle Fires to our library in order to expose our students to the latest technology during their library visit.  The library also uses Accelerated Reader and the STAR reader program, networked to each the classroom.  Students visit the library at least once a week to check out a book, participate in a reading lesson and have storytime.  Storytime includes puppet shows, drama or a visual arts lesson.  The Mannsdale library is a "kid-friendly" place decorated with children's artwork in a effort to provide a haven where students can foster a love of reading

My name is Robin North and this is my fourth year to be the media specialist at Mannsdale.  I taught 4th and 5th grade at Madison Station for 15 years and was thrilled to begin this new chapter in my career.  The library is a place where I can combine my favorite things- kids, books and art.  I have such a fun job and I look forward to coming to work in such a great place each day.  I am married to John Sidney North and I have a first grader at Mannsdale, John Riley North.  He is one of my favorite library patrons!  I have tried to make the Mannsdale Media Center a place that is bright, cheerful, inviting and welcoming.  I hope it is a place that fosters a love of reading and a safe haven for our young Mavericks to feel appreciated and loved.

We are thrilled to have Shan Hawkins as our library assistant this year.  Shan is married to Pete Hawkins and has two children in the Madison County School District, Hunter and Haleigh.  Shan is transitioning from the classroom to the library and is a tremendous asset to the media center.  Shan enjoys running, reading and doing things with her family.
