The OTMS Volunteer Club aims to get students involved in the community through service activities. Volunteering promotes a healthier and happier community in which our students can develop into productive citizens. Students have the opportunity to develop a habit of service to their community, a trait they can carry for a lifetime.

Making Cards for Veteran's Day
UPCOMING EVENTS
The Veteran's Day program is Nov. 11th at 9:00. The Volunteer Club will be assisting Mrs. Connerly in this special event. On Veteran's Day~OTMS Volunteer Club will serve our guests food and escort them to the gym for the program. We will also assist in the program. This is a very special event for everyone at OTMS
December (date TBA)- adopt a family that needs special help at Christmas. We are given a family from OTMS that needs clothing, food, etc. for Christmas. The students don't know who that family is but they enjoy shopping for them and wrapping their gifts. Food items are also given. We leave school and shop at Wal-Mart. This project we will need parents that can help drive to and from OTMS to Wal-Mart. Any donations are also greatly appreciated for this project.
January (date TBA)- make Valentine's Day cards for the residents at The Arbor Nursing Home. The residents are so excited to receive the cards from the students.
February (date TBA)- deliver the Valentine cards to the residents at the Arbor. We will need parents to help drive for this project. The residents not only receive a card but a visit from the students.
March (date TBA)- Mississippi Magic Basketball Team plays against OTMS boys and girls basketball teams. The players from Mississippi Magic are in wheelchairs. The OTMS players must also play in wheelchairs which makes a fun experience for all. OTMS Volunteer Club gives a donation to the MM basketball team.
April (date TBA)- Saturday Work Day at Camp New Life - We will need about twenty Volunteer Club members to help. Parents are needed to drive and to help work. Click here for video about Camp New Life.
April (date TBA)- Horses for Handicapped at Mississippi Fairgrounds - Twenty Volunteer Club members can participate. This will be an ALL DAY event.
May (date TBA)- Ridgeland's Relay for Life~ fight against cancer. This event is away from school. The students raise money for Relay for Life then participate by having a team at the Relay for Life event. It is an all night event but we have parents pick up their students by 10:00. This is a great time for fellowship and healing for those who have suffered from cancer and those who are remembering those who have lost the battle of cancer.
