A Little History About LBE Luther Henry Branson was born in 1884 in Millville- Farmhaven, Mississippi. Mr. Branson completed the highest level of education possible to African Americans at that time. He received his teaching certificate and taught at the local black school. He loved working with children and devoted his life to teaching. Robert Cheek Branson was born in 1891 in Millville-Farmhaven, Mississippi. Robert was the youngest of eleven children and was a self-taught musician and photographer. After living away from Mississippi, Robert wanted the children in his community to have a high quality school like he had seen elsewhere. So he donated a tract of land near Highway 16 as a site for the school. His only request was that the school be named in honor of his brother, Luther Henry Branson. We are proud to have such rooted heritage at our school , Luther Branson Elementary, located on Highway 16 East. |
