  • MathCamp - Center for Mathematics and Science Education
    University of Mississippi

    Posted 01/11/12

The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) at the University of Mississippi announces its sixth annual MathCamp Summer program for students who will be in the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade next school year (2012-2013).  This camp is designed for students who show the potential to be good mathematics students, but for some reason are not achieving at their full potential.

Letters and recommendation forms have been mailed (from CMSE) to Principals.  Current Math teachers can recommend up to two students by completing and submitting a recommendation form for each student.  An assigned committee of CMSE staff members will review the recommendations of all eligible students.  Only students who are not already high achievers in mathematics will be eligible for the program.  Approximately 20 students will be chosen for each camp session.

The 2012 MathCamp season will consist of four one-week sessions for new participants and two alumni camps for returning participants.  There is no fee to attend, but there is a $50 nonrefundable seat deposit for all participants, except those students who are qualified to receive free or reduced school lunch.
