As a librarian giving book talks to students it strikes me as very morbid when I discuss the Hunger Games. How do you feel about loving a book about some of the most inhumane  topics imaginable…. Children killing children…. Adults killing children…… mutations tearing people apart…. You get my drift. Your thoughts?

Can you think of a time in history that the Hunger Games might symbolize?

Although I was a little disappointed in the way Collins left us with Katniss, Peeta and Gale, what do you surmise their future might hold past where Collins left us? What of their children? Does the past continue to haunt? Does it repeat itself? Out of sight, out of mind? Etc.

Do you have suggestions or other books for those who like the Hunger Games Trilogy? Some that I can think of are: Ender’s Game series, Twilight series, Harry Potter series, The Uglies series, Leviathan, Nineteen-Eighty Four, Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, “The Lottery,”  Lord of the Flies

Discuss the differences between Katniss’s 1st Hunger Game and the Quarter Quell and then the Revolution.

In the 1st and 2nd books, the Gamemakers control the environment of the games and then District 13 & the Capital control it for Mockingjay. Does this reflect our society in any way now or in the past? and what do you think of Katniss “outsmarting” the system?

While waiting for Mockingjay to be released, there was a lot of discussion for whether Katniss would choose Peeta or Gale. Who were you “rooting” for and were you surprised at the end? Happy or disappointed?
