Supplies- You will need a seperate section in your binder labeled "Science" with loose leaf paper. You will keep a science notebook for each chapter. Each notebook will have a coverpage, vocabulary defined, notes, handouts, and homework. You will use this "notebook" as your study guide and will turn it in for a grade on the day of the test.Projects-We will do projects throughout the year. These will be done in class with minimal time needed to complete it at home. Certain supplies will be needed with sufficent time given to purchase/obtain. These will count as test grades.Tests- Our tests will not be on any certain days but will depend on each chapter's length.Homework-Every night students will need to review over any notes or key terms from teh chapter we are on. Always check the "Homework Blog" for assignments. I check homework for completion using a plus/check/minus system. Each plus equals 25 points, a check equals 15 for partial credit, and a minus equals zero points. After four homework checks a daily grade will be recorded in the gradebook. You will need to study NIGHTLY!Extra Credit- Extra credit is allowed for each chapter. It will be posted in the room. You will have a couple of choices with one always being to put your vocabulary on index cards like flash cards with the word on one side and the definition on the other. You will secure these with a rubber band and turn in with your notebook. The extra points will be added to your notebook daily grade.Science Labs- We will be having true lab activities using lab equipment. Special rules and procedures will be taught for these labs. Even though lab activities are often fun, the lab is not a place to play. Your help in reinforcing this will be greatly appreciated.About the TeacherThis is my 21st year to teach with 18 of those in sixth grade science in Madison County Schools.
