Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Germantown Middle School! I am very excited about the 2012-2013 school year, and I am looking forward to meeting each of you. Communication between us is vital, so please send me an email with your child’s name in the subject line so that I can easily get in touch with you. Please do not hesitate to shoot me an email if you have questions about anything A few things to keep in mind this year- block scheduling and Common Core. We spent the past school year studying the curriculum, and I am very excited about what it offers the students. In order to ensure the success of your child, please be sure to check my blog for any announcements or updates. I will post and update homework and test dates, but it is your child’s responsibility to know what homework is to be completed and when tests are. Organization and attendance will be the key to success this year!

Classroom Guidelines:

Each student needs to have a 3-ring binder for my class. Thisbinder should be divided into 3 sections: MAV Marks, notes, and handouts. It isthe student's responsibility to keep up with this binder. As we move on in theschool year, students will be allowed to use calculators; however, it isimportant that the student be able to complete assignments without acalculator. Calculators should be used as a tool - not a crutch. Students willhave homework on a regular basis. I check homework for a completion grade. Itis important to stress that homework is used as a tool to make sure your childunderstands the concepts taught in class.
